Setting up a social area in Reading

I needed a fitted bar after hosting a gathering where we ran out space. I chose to look near the Oracle Shopping Centre.

I found the website while browsing and emailed photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens responded with a quote that seemed right for the job.

The journey of planning this project was actually quite detailed. I dedicated many hours thinking on the configuration of the room before even picking up the device. My living area has constantly felt a bit incomplete, and owning a proper area for beverages seemed like the perfect solution to that issue. I remember standing in my kitchen staring at a messy countertop covered with bottles and feeling that something had to change. The first conversation with the staff was very straightforward, which gave me assurance. We talked different styles, from modern minimalist designs to more classic and wooden textures. I was really impressed by how much detail they requested regarding the measurements and the current decor of my house. It seemed like they truly desired the finished result to match perfectly with the rest of the building. I offered multiple angles in the images I sent, making sure every nook was clear. They clarified that the bespoke nature of the unit meant that precision was entirely paramount to prevent any issues during the installation. We went forth and back on possible materials, looking at swatches of laminate and different types of timber grain. It is amazing how many thought goes into picking the right handles, like knobs and copyrights, which can completely alter the vibe of the whole build. I needed a place where I could easily prepare drinks for friends without needing to constantly dash back to the kitchen for lemons or glasses. The ease of having all items in a single place was the main driver for this investment. We finalised the design following a brief consultation where every one of my concerns regarding wiring and electric sockets were addressed. I liked that they didn't rush the planning stage, taking the effort to ensure that the depth of the racks was enough for my tallest glassware. It felt like a collaborative effort instead than a standard transaction, which is hard to locate these days.

The fitting day came sooner than anticipated, and the fitter was on time and ready. He started by placing down safety sheets to make sure my carpet stayed clean. Watching the components being unpacked was fascinating, as the standard of the materials was instantly obvious. He meticulously checked the levels of the floor before securing the base frame of the unit. I observed as the structure gradually took form, transforming a boring corner into a functional piece. The level of craftsmanship required in fitting the boards to the wonky walls of my older house was notable. He mentioned how each piece fitted in to provide total stability. We wasted a bit of duration deciding on the final position for the built-in fridge, ensuring it was easy to open but tucked back from main sight. The fitting of the worktop was the most satisfying part of the whole process. Seeing the polished top at last sitting on the base made the project come real. He next installed the glass backing, which instantly made the space to look double the size. The lighting were connected next, and checking them for the initial time was a thrill. The soft light below the shelves highlighted the glassware perfectly. I could see precisely how useful this might be during evening parties. The fitter was highly careful, spending the effort to clean down every surface and clear any dust made during the drilling. He also demonstrated me how to adjust the racks should I later needed to house larger pieces. The attention to detail was truly exceptional, right down to the sealant lines around the edges. It was obvious that he had immense satisfaction in his work, which is consistently reassuring to witness. We did a final inspection of the completed installation to ensure everything was perfect. I observed that a single knob was slightly wobbly, and he fixed it immediately with a quick turn of a tool. This diligence is exactly what I was looking for when I booked the service.

The completed bar appears absolutely amazing and has become the main feature of my downstairs. It provides a sophisticated feel that had been formerly missing from my reception space. The storage is immense, allowing me to organise all my spirits, sodas, and specialist glassware in a unified place. No longer do I have to rummage through cramped kitchen cabinets to locate a corkscrew or a certain kind of glass. Everything has its rightful place, which renders entertaining so much simpler and stress-free. I love the way the finishes catch the light in the afternoons, making a warm atmosphere. My friends have already complimented the setup multiple occasions, with some even asking for the details of the people who built it. It really seems like a custom addition made specifically for my needs. The elevation of the countertop is ideal for standing by with a drink, and the integrated lighting strips provide just the correct amount of glow without being overpowering. Even when not in operation, it works as a lovely item of furniture that lifts the entire aesthetic of the property. I used some effort placing my bottles on the shelves to create a visual display. The mirrored panels really assist in showcasing the bottles and giving depth to the small alcove. It has inspired me to experiment making different cocktails that I before felt were too complicated to bother in a normal setting. Having the tap nearby would have been good, but the area constraints meant we opted without it to preserve storage room. This was a deliberate choice we made at the planning stage, and I certainly not rue it. The additional cupboard room for straws and tools is far more valuable to me in the long period.

There were a few of minor drawbacks that are worth noting for a honest view. The lead period for the bespoke doors was a bit slower than I originally wanted. It lasted about eight weeks from the initial payment to the final installation appointment. While this is understandable for tailored work, it meant a some of waiting on my end. I had hoped to have it finished for a specific event, but we missed that date by a week. However, the updates from the office regarding the delay were consistent, so I was never left in the unknowing. I rather hold a bit more for a result that is built to last than have a rushed work that breaks after a few months. The start price quote was also slightly less than the total invoice, mainly because I chose to improve the handles and include more inside lights midway through the process. These adjustments were completely my decision, and the team was extremely clear about the additional costs involved. Another minor point was the volume of packaging left after the fitting. Although the worker tidied up the build site well, there was a significant amount of waste to get rid of in my bins. It was not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind if you have little waste space. Despite these minor details, the total journey was very good. The quality of the finish is much superior to anything I might have purchased off-the-shelf. It seems solid and durable, and I am sure it will withstand years of use. I believe the value it has given to my property far outweighs the initial outlay. It has changed the way I use my living area, making it much more inviting. I no longer sense cramped when friends visit.

Reflecting back on the whole experience, I am really glad I opted ahead with it. The first idea came from a visit to a neighbour's house in Oxford, where they had a comparable setup. I realised then how much it improved the movement of the party. When I returned to Reading, I started researching local options and discovered that going with a specialist provider was the only route to get the precise style I desired. The chance to choose each element, from the colour of the stain to the placement of the power outlets, made the final product was exactly as I envisioned. I even got a tiny secret drawer built for keeping valuable items like silver spoons. This kind of personalisation is what makes the experience special. It didn't seem like a mass-produced item being forced into a room where it didn't fit. Instead, it looks like it has forever been a segment of the house. If you are considering a like-minded domestic improvement, my advice would be to remain patient and invest the time on the planning stage. It is much easier to alter a sketch than it is to modify a cabinet once it is manufactured. The expertise offered during the start was invaluable in preventing me from doing common errors, such as putting the fridge too close to a heat source. These little details of wisdom are what you buy for when you choose experienced experts. I am currently planning at different parts of my house to see where else I might install fitted storage. The outcome of this bar project has given me the drive to start a larger task in the bedroom next year. It is a great upgrade to my life, and I view forward to numerous seasons of enjoying it with relatives and pals. Finding the proper mix between style and function was the aim, and I think we achieved it perfectly. The process from a messy alcove to a stylish hosting hub was truly deserving the effort and money required. I today have a home that I am really proud to share off to others. Reading has many great places to go for a drink, but honestly, I now prefer being at home and using my own private setup. It offers the identical atmosphere without the crowds or the commute. That alone is worth the whole undertaking. I am very pleased with how the ambience works in the evening, creating a chill space to unwind after a busy day at work. It is the little luxuries like this that render house living so rewarding and fulfilling. I highly value the workmanship that was put into the finished result. The manner the doors fitted bar close with a silent thud speaks volumes about the construction quality. No detail was overlooked, and the total appearance is precisely what I hoped it would be when I originally started this process. It is a credit to the talent of the team and the quality of the materials utilised. I am a very satisfied client.
